Schoharie County Local Youth Recreation Commissions


Carlisle Recreation Committee - The Carlisle Recreation Committee hosts year round activities. Recreation activities are held at the pavilion and the grounds of the Carlisle Town Hall. Activities include; basketball, volleyball, badminton, field games, music, picnics/snacks. There are also small fires in the fire pits which are placed on the property for nice evening community events. The Committee also hosts special activities throughout the year with a Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter theme.

Cobleskill Joint Youth Recreation Commission - This Youth Commission made up of residents from the Town and Village of Cobleskill offers programs that encourage the participation of all individuals in our community. And regardless of gender, ethnicity, or age, these programs will develop the highest possible level of physical and mental well being within the community, thus creating a positive influence in their lives. Programs offered are: Arts and Crafts, day summer programming, swimming, swim lessons, football clinics, soccer, tennis, ice skating, basketball, volleyball, etc...

Gilboa/Conesville Summer Co-Op Camp - This program serves a lot of children in the Town of Gilboa and Conesville. Math, reading, recreation, swimming, and swim lessons are offered daily in the month of July, Mon-Fri. The School helps with transporting youth to the Mine Kill State Park daily.

Jefferson Youth Recreation Program - This program offers swimming lessons daily to between 100-120 students, ages 4-16 years old. They offer 5 levels of swim lessons by certified instructors for the 4 weeks in July. Students are bused to Mine Kill State Park for swimming/lessons and back to their homes.

Middleburgh Joint Youth Recreation Commission - The Middleburgh Joint Youth Commission provides a variety of programs for youth in the four participating municipalities (Town of Broome, Town of Fulton, Town & Village of Middleburgh). Summer programs include swim lessons and open swim, tennis, arts and crafts, open gym. Trips to a variety of locations plus to other programs are run and support for open trips developed by other youth organizations is provided. This is free to all youth, even outside the tax areas.

Richmondville Joint Youth Recreation Commission - Our summer youth programs are extremely valuable to the residents of our rural community. Arts and Crafts, swim lessons and open swim are available throughout the summer months. Open Swim is provided every afternoon at 1:00pm, seven days per week. Youth are given the opportunity to interact with their peers and appropriate role models through recreational and educational activities presented at our community facilities. Our programs teach healthy living skills, water safety, individual artistic expression, and cultural arts & crafts appreciation.

Schoharie Joint Youth Recreation Commission - The Schoharie Joint Youth Commission provide summer programs for youth in the four participating municipalities (Town of Esperance, Town of Wright, Town & Village of Schoharie). This program offers swimming lessons, parent/tot swim, private lessons, splash aerobics, swim team and open swim.

Seward Youth Recreation Program - Recreation activities are held at their youth center on Route 165 in Seward. Recreation activities include field games, indoor games, arts & crafts, and various performances.

Sharon Joint Youth Recreation Commission - This group of volunteers, provides activities in collaboration with the school and library to enhance children and teens' social and physical health, preventing juvenile delinquency and developing lifelong hobbies. Swim lessons, open swim, moon light swims and family swim are offered through the summer months. Also included is a summer recreation program at the Community Pool/Recreation Center. This program is for K-6th graders and incorporates swim lessons, arts and crafts, cooperative games & sports as well as fun yet educational guest programs in collaboration with the Sharon Springs Free Library and Sharon Springs Central School. The session ends with a field trip to a local lake/park.

Summit Youth Recreation Program - Educational and recreational events occur during the summer months. This FREE program happens every Saturday afternoon, in July and August. Events include programs such as: sled dogs, butterfly release, animals, wildlife shows, arts and crafts, music, etc.
