Grant Programs/Coalitions

The Health Educator works with a variety of coalitions and grant projects both within the Health Department and in collaboration with other divisions, counties and/or agencies. Grant projects include: Healthy Heart programs initiated to help reduce the prevalence of cardiovascular disease in the county; Dental Health Education programs for elementary age children; Self Sufficiency Project, a multi-agency collaboration addressing, in part, infection control and communicable disease in the home environment; County Coordinator for the Rural Three for Tobacco Free Communities, a tri-county tobacco control coalition, coordinating local efforts to address tobacco issues as well as functioning as an active member of the larger coalition; participates in educational and promotional activities with Nursing Division grants including lead, diabetes, breast health and immunization.

Workshops & Trainings
Health Department staff is available to provide trainings and workshops as requested by schools, community groups, agencies, individuals, etc. regarding public health related topics. The Public Health Educator is usually involved in the coordination, development and presentation of such.
